How to Convert WebP to PNG or JPG
Saved an image and got a .webp file? Convert WebP to PNG or JPG so it opens in every app, then pick the right one of the two for your image.

WebP is an image format made for the web: smaller files, faster pages. The catch is that some apps, older software and upload forms still don't accept it. If you saved an image and got a .webp file you can't use, convert it to PNG or JPG.
Convert WebP online
- Open WebP to PNG or WebP to JPG.
- Drop your WebP files onto the page, or click Choose Files. Add up to 20 at once.
- Click Convert and download the results.
Want both formats from one batch? Add the files once, then change the format next to each file before converting.
PNG or JPG?
| PNG | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Logos, screenshots, graphics | Photos |
| Transparency | Yes | No |
| File size | Larger | Smaller |
| Quality | No loss | Small, adjustable loss |
If you're not sure, choose PNG: it keeps the image exactly as it is. Choose JPG when the image is a photo and you need a smaller file.
Without converting
Most current software can open WebP: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, Windows Photos, macOS Preview and recent versions of Photoshop. If one of these is all you need, you may not have to convert at all. Conversion helps with older software, some print shops and upload forms that only list JPG and PNG.
Making your own WebP images
Running a website? Going the other way saves bandwidth: PNG to WebP turns your images into WebP, usually much smaller than the PNG, with transparency kept.
