How we measured: tokens counted with OpenAI's o200k tokenizer on real files converted by RunConvert. "PDF sent as pages" counts each page as an image (about 1,530 tokens, as Claude does) plus the page's text; the web page is compared with its raw HTML. Other AI tools count differently, so your savings will vary.

In our tests, 61–83% compared with sending the original PDF page by page, or a web page as raw HTML. The more pages and tables a file has, the bigger the saving.

Many AI tools read PDFs as page images plus text, which uses far more of your limit, and long files get cut off. Tables in PDFs are often read as jumbled text. Markdown avoids both.
