What is a TS file?

The TS (Transport Stream) format is a standard container specified in MPEG-2 Part 1 (ISO/IEC 13818-1) for the transmission and storage of audio, video, and Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) data. Designed for unreliable transmission environments like broadcast and streaming, TS encapsulates data in fixed-size 188-byte packets to facilitate error correction and stream synchronization.
