What is a VSSM file?

The VSSM extension denotes a Microsoft Visio Macro-Enabled Stencil file, introduced with Visio 2013 to store reusable master shapes alongside embedded Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code. How to open a VSSM file

Opening VSSM files requires Microsoft Visio Pro or Standard editions with macro security settings adjusted to permit VBA execution. While LibreOffice Draw can parse the vector shape data within the stencil using reverse-engineered libraries, it cannot execute or edit the proprietary VBA macros contained within the binary sub-parts of the archive.
