What is a VOC file?

The Creative Voice (VOC) file format is a legacy audio standard developed by Creative Technology specifically for the Sound Blaster series of hardware sound cards in the 1990s. The file structure comprises a 26-byte header followed by a sequence of data blocks containing audio information, typically encoded in 8-bit Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) or varying forms of ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). It was historically used to store digitized voice data and sound effects in MS-DOS environments.

How to open a VOC file

Modern operating systems do not natively support the proprietary VOC format. Playback and conversion require specialized audio editing software or robust media players.
