The DOTM format is a Microsoft Word Open XML Macro-Enabled Template introduced with Microsoft Office 2007. Structurally compliant with the ECMA-376 standard, it utilizes ZIP compression to encapsulate XML data structures, separating content, styles, and relationships. Unlike the standard DOTX template, the 'M' designation indicates the explicit authorization to store and execute Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros. This distinction is a security feature designed to prevent the accidental execution of malicious scripts in standard templates.

Microsoft Word (2007 and later) is the primary software for opening and executing macros within DOTM files. On macOS, Microsoft Word for Mac provides equivalent functionality. For non-Microsoft environments, LibreOffice Writer and WPS Office can open DOTM files and render the content, though VBA macro execution compatibility may vary significantly compared to the native Microsoft engine.

Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression, created as a patent-free replacement for the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). Standardized as ISO/IEC 15948:2004, PNG utilizes the DEFLATE compression algorithm (a combination of LZ77 and Huffman coding) and supports palette-based images, grayscale, and full-color non-palette-based RGB/RGBA images. PNG files possess near-universal compatibility across all major operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS) and web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) without requiring additional software. Default image viewers such as Microsoft Photos, Apple Preview, and virtually all graphics editing software including GIMP, Adobe Photoshop, and Paint.NET natively handle the format.
