It utilizes ZIP compression to package XML manifests, styles, and multimedia assets into a single container. Unlike proprietary binary formats, OTP enforces strict open standards, ensuring interoperability across different software suites while storing layout master slides and styles for reusable presentation designs.

How to open an OTP file

OTP files are natively supported by open-source office suites adhering to the OpenDocument standard. Linux distributions often include LibreOffice Impress or Apache OpenOffice, which open these templates by default. On Windows and macOS, users can utilize Microsoft PowerPoint (version 2007 SP2 and later) or Corel WordPerfect Office, though LibreOffice remains the reference implementation for maximum rendering fidelity.
