Adobe Illustrator Artwork (AI) format は、Adobe Systems によって開発された proprietary な vector graphics file type です。これは、EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) または PDF (Portable Document Format) standards のいずれかに基づいた、単一ページの vector-based drawings を表現するために使用されます。初期の version では簡略化された PostScript syntax (PGF) が利用されていましたが、現代の version (version 9 以降) は、後方互換性のために PGF copy を埋め込んだ PDF-compatible structure に依存しています。この format は scalable paths、独自の layers、および CMYK color models をサポートしており、商業印刷や digital graphics industry における standard となっています。
AI file の開き方
AI files を native に開くには Adobe Illustrator が必要です。ただし、PDF compatibility を有効にして保存された file は、Adobe Acrobat、Apple Preview (macOS)、または標準的な PDF readers で閲覧可能です。Adobe の subscription なしで編集する場合、ユーザーは CorelDRAW、Inkscape (import 経由)、または Affinity Designer などの vector graphics software を利用できます。PDF data なしで保存された non-compatible AI files は、Illustrator または専用の conversion tools が厳密に必要となる場合があります。
